| Vacas da raça Holandesa não-lactantes, distribuídas em dois grupos, foram sincronizadas com o protocolo Ovsynch modificado. No dia sete (dia 0 = dia do segundo GnRH), o grupo 7 (G-7; n=19) recebeu CIDR usado previamente por cinco dias e 100mcg de GnRH, e o grupo 14 (G-14; n=21), CIDR e 25mg de PGF2alfa. No dia 14 foi aspirado o folículo dominante (FD), trocado o CIDR usado por um novo e foram aplicados 25mg de PGF2alfa. Iniciou-se o tratamento com FSH 36h depois, removeu-se o CIDR com o sétimo FSH e aplicou-se GnRH 36h depois. As inseminações foram feitas 12 e 24h depois. | Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and insulin regulate glycide metabolism in Sertoli cells, thus stimulating lactate production. These stimulatory effects of FSH and insulin do not require protein synthesis, suggesting a modulation of enzyme activity and/or regulation of glucose transport. The present investigation was performed to characterize the hormonal control of lipid metabolism in Sertoli cells. The data indicate that FSH and insulin have a regulatory effect on lipid metabolism in Sertoli cells. After 8 h of preincubation with insulin (5 µg/ml), the activity of the enzyme ATP-citrate lyase in cultured Sertoli cells was increased from 0.19 to 0.34 nmol NAD+ formed µg protein-1 min-1. | The aim of this work was to study effect of the dry matter intake level on the concentrations of glucose, insulin, urea, estrogen and progesterone in the blood and the level of IGF-I in the follicular liquid of heifers. Twenty seven crossbred heifers were used, in three treatments: 1.2, 1.6 and 2.6% of the live weight of dry matter intake (DMI) daily. The sanguine concentrations of glucose and estrogen were higher in the animals with 1.6% of DMI and the insulin levels were higher in the animals with 2.6% of DMI. | Twelve female ponies were examined daily for 30 days and classified as ovulating (OV; N = 6; 197 ± 6 kg) or prepubertal (PP; N = 6; 196 ± 9 kg). Follicles were detected by ultrasound and gonadotropins quantified by radioimmunoassay. The mean diameter of the largest follicles was significantly larger in OV (38 ± 1 mm) than in PP (26 ± 2 mm) but there was no difference between groups in the size of the second largest follicle. There were more small follicles (<24 mm) in the PP than in the OV group, but PP fillies had a smaller number of follicles >29 mm than the OV fillies. | Con el objetivo de lograr la maduración in vitro de ovocitos ovinos, se obtuvieron ovarios a partir de ovinos sacrificados. Inmediatamente después del sacrificio los ovarios se sumergieron en solución salina fisiológica a 35ºC. Se colectaron en total 242 ovarios y se debridaron 1294 folículos con un tamaño entre 2 a 6 mm de diámetro. | We investigated the participation of A1 or A2 receptors in the gonadotrope and their role in the regulation of LH and FSH secretion in adult rat hemipituitary preparations, using adenosine analogues. A dose-dependent inhibition of LH and FSH secretion was observed after the administration of graded doses of the R-isomer of phenylisopropyladenosine (R-PIA; 1 nM, 10 nM, 100 nM, 1 µM and 10 µM). The effect of R-PIA (10 nM) was blocked by the addition of 8-cyclopentyltheophylline (CPT), a selective A1 adenosine receptor antagonist, at the dose of 1 µM. All animals were synchronized with the insertion of an intravaginal device (CIDR(r)) on Day 0, replaced by a new device on Day 7, which remained in place until Day 14 and superovulated with 133mg of porcine FSH (pFSH) in decreasing doses at 12h intervals from Day 12 until Day 15 of the treatment, and a single dose of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG, 200UI) on Day 14 (i.e., administered in CIDR removal). | Mil duzentos e setenta e um oócitos foram divididos em 4 tratamentos com a finalidade de se avaliar a influência da adição de LH e FSH na produção in vitro de embriões bovinos com soro de vaca em estro (SVE) ou soro de éguas obtido no 1º dia do estro (SE). | Avaliaram-se os efeitos de dois protocolos de punção folicular na quantidade/qualidade dos oócitos e na produção in vitro de embriões, em vacas da raça Gir, não-lactantes. O ciclo estral foi sincronizado com cloprostenol e ao longo do experimento os animais receberam implantes auriculares de norgestomet, renovados a cada 14 dias. | O objetivo do experimento foi estudar o efeito do pré-tratamento com 500 mg de sometribove (rbST) sobre a resposta superovulatória, o número e a qualidade dos embriões coletados de 26 novilhas mestiças holandês-zebu, divididas em dois tratamentos: T1 = tratadas com rbST (n=13) e T2 = controle (n=13). | O objetivo desta pesquisa foi determinar as correlações entre níveis hormonais aos 2 e 6 meses de idade e diâmetro e histologia testicular em tourinhos Angus x Charolês aos 6 meses de idade (n=15). | Se desconoce la respuesta superovulatoria de la hembra Criollo Lechero Tropical (CLT) a la administración de la Hormona Folículo Estimulante (FSH) y se requiere superovular hembras genéticamente superiores. El objetivo del presente estudio fue establecer el mejor protocolo de ovulación múltiple en hembras CLT utilizando FSH.
